Its about time!

Finally! We started our blog! Gavin and I think that this will be a wonderful way to keep you connected to our life here in Denver and to keep you posted on our wedding plans.

Gavin and I have had an amazing year! We both were very involved in the elections and are happy the hard work paid off! We took a break from the election madness in August for Bill and Michelle's wedding. They had planned a special family/friend climb of Mt Rainier the weekend before the wedding. It was Gavin's first trip up Rainier and the first time that my brother, sister, dad and I were all on the summit together. It was a really special trip and to top everything off, Gavin proposed to me on the summit! He said that he couldn't think of a better place to ask me to spend the rest of my life with him! I said yes and kissed his frozen face! This is a picture of the whole crew!

After the elections Gavin and I took a month long trip to Costa Rica to relax and reconnect. We backpacked and camped in the jungle. We saw sloths and crocodiles and the most beautiful beaches. It is amazing to be in love and to travel.

Check out the shelter Gavin made me! He thinks he's survivor man!

We have been back in Denver since the beginning of January. Gavin started his new job as the field organizer for Environment Colorado. www.environmentcolorado.org After a month and a half of hard searching I eventually found a great job! I am teaching at a Montessori school, 3-6 year olds! They are so cute! I've been at the school for a month and I am learning a lot and really enjoying myself! I am studying for the GREs and planning to go back to school as soon as possible.

With tons of help and ideas from both of our parents we are busy planning the wedding. We'll post more information on lodging and wedding activities a little later, this is what we have planned so far!

We are getting married on August 1st in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico! http://www.visitsantafe.com/ Gavin grew up in Santa Fe and his parents, Victoria and Michael, have been living there for almost 30 years! Over the last six years I have fallen in love with Santa Fe too. After an amazing wedding in Mount Rainier last summer for Michelle and Bill, we decided to do something different. Vicki and Michael we're up for hosting (and we are so grateful!) and the plans have been falling into place ever since! We're having the ceremony at one o'clock at the St Frances Basilica. It is absolutely gorgeous! and right in the heart of downtown Santa Fe.

Our reception will follow the ceremony at Hyde Park Lodge. The lodge is just a short trip from downtown in Santa Fe National Forest. Its out in the woods with a big beautiful outside patio, perfect for dancing!

Save the dates will be in the mail this week! My mom made them all by hand and is making our invitations as well! We are so excited to share our wedding and the rest of our lives with all of you! We hope to see you in Santa Fe!
